Informal Ted Talk on Bible and Religion in Public School

There’s a HUGE difference between a) teaching from the Bible and b) learning about the history that’s incorporated into (i.e, documented in) or supplementary to the ‘information’ in the Bible for the given time.

Now—

Is the Quran taught in schools? NO.

Is the Torah taught in schools? NO!!

BUT WHY NOT?!

Why should the Bible be taught and not these other ‘holy’ books as well? ‘⛷⛷⛷

Just put it in a damn textbook, and talk about it for a day without going into details of the entire ideology behind it.

Plus, It is too complex to explain anyway!!!!! Kids (even adults) are wandering curious Georges. They need to focus on growing and creating themSELVES! They can read it (as in whatever book they want) in their spare time in their choosing to do so. Hell, they can major in religious studies in college too if they’d like.

Hmmm why is that though? Why is it that they can major in religion, in college, IN THE FIRST PLACE? Because THEY GET TO CHOOSE IT; they choose to do and act as they WANT. That’s life. You are free to make anything you want out of your self and hence your life too. You determine who you are and how you want to act at every given moment.

Moreover, let me get back on track to the initial point being made about religions and their books.

Islam (Quran), Judaism (Torah), and Christianity (Bible) are the 3 largest religions in the world. SO DUH. Everyone ought to learn something about them!!! History is universal; history is history FOR US ALL.

With that being said, no, we should not allow naive sponges (aka developing children’s brains) to focus on these religious books as A WAY OUT OF REALITY. That’s like saying, “Here you go. Here’s a book about Santa. Go make falsehood your dwelling hole.” It’s just wrong to try to teach a topic that’s utterly fallacious—it’s a topic based on mere opinionS. (That is, other than the stuff that actually has some sort of historical significance.)

We surely talk about these religions (and their fundamental books) in the context of the Subsaharan African realm’s history. (& If anyone isn’t sure why this is, it is because these 3 main religions share the SAME HOLY CITY.)

Likewise, we also talk about Hinduism and Buddhism when we go over the history of the Southeast Asian realm. But that’s just to mention another like instance.

So it’s different to discuss the Bible, in regards to things like: 1) What we’d now deem as immoral and inhumane acts that were committed by persons in the Bible. 2) To explore and better understand if the lineage of thought has been progressive throughout the epochs, eras, etc.—whatever it is that you wish to zone in on. 3) The discoveries or groundbreaking events that took place which led to shifts in the patterns of thought.

Anyway, here are some more problems that come along with trying to “teach” the Bible:

All of the various versions. (Which one would be taught? And what are the differences in the different versions?) List the authors of all 66 books. Describe the numerous types of Christianity (e.g., Protestant, Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian, ETC.)—that’s even more confusing of a concept to explain to a mind that constantly wants to know. Don’t forget to share the deets about how Mary got pregnant without sex (WHICH IS EFFING IMPOSSIBLE—in exemption of the means of doing so with today’s technology). And then explain the concept of Jesus coming back to life after being dead for 3 days.

Oh—but remember that Santa isn’t real.
Neither are the Easter Bunny and the tooth fairy any real.

But why do we lie and make these characters up?

Because we try to instill a sense of hope and goodness in the world.

And how is this achieved? By fabricating this concept of something or someone that cares about/ thinks about you without you EVEN knowing it! This concept makes one feel safe and thus feel cared for WHEN NOBODY ELSE GIVES A DAMN ABOUT YOU.

So at the time that you hate the world and everyone in it, you think of religion to give you a sense of hope for something better out there. But it can only be there and exist as something substantial if you MAKE IT HAPPEN. Empower yourself by thinking about and envisioning what you want to make out of your own being in this world.

We also try to mask/coverup our egocentric desires and impulses under these FALSE GUISES: and we call them “our religious rites.” Now, this does not mean that I knock others because of their religions. I respect others’ decisions to act religiously under the condition that they choose it for themselves. And so long as they weren’t just told (more so than taught) to believe something or influenced to act according to a standard that is ‘like the others’ or done ‘for the others.’

All people have the ability to make whatever reality they want for themselves!!! The word religion is just an excuse to do as YOU WISH, while attempting to guise yourself under some kind of universal word (I.e., religion) that appeals to—a still subjectively chosen—moral code. But the word religion just makes it all seem ‘right’ doesn’t it?  (Reality check: As you must already know, the world is unfair. That means that it’s up to YOU to make it a better place.)

If you aren’t allowed to do something, it’s because YOU COMMAND YOURSELF TO NOT DO IT. (It’s literally mind over matter.)

Religion just tries to make us look better or appear as selfless, which is something that one can never be—not even when dead. Just because of the fact that ones alive means that one has made a stamp on this world that COULD NEVER BE TAKEN AWAY.

This world will always be full of you. But only as full as you make yourself out to be. So make a lot of big and pretty marks—that’s where your bodiless energy will reside and manifest until the end of time.

Coexist. Coevolve.

LOVE yourself.

Love other sentient beings.
