If there is a heaven,
Get in line.
You aren’t the only being
seeking what’s divine.
If there is a heaven,
a place
1 of 2
we go when we die,
I hope it’s up high—
Past skies passed the sky.
I want to look down at Earth,
Eagle eye.
While looking within the memories,
I’ll cry, I’ll smile, I’ll cry, and I’ll cry.
If there’s a heaven,
I don’t really need to go.
I’d rather be high but I’ll go low—
For a mother and her unborn baby need an extra ticket to the heavenly show.
If there’s a heaven,
I’ll move to the back of the line
Only if I can still drink Jesus’s wine
While I shift through time,
And time again.
If there’s a heaven,
I don’t need to get in.
For I know my sin…
But I also know sin-cerity;
It’s not charity.
I’ll give away my golden ticket without any clarity—
verity—
For your grandmother.
Cause I hope you’d do the same for mine.
If there’s a heaven,
I don’t want to know
what it’s like.
I don’t even want to go,
such a long hike.
But if there’s a heaven,
I know my pop is there.
And he’s the only reason that I care
To even go there.
