They say life should not consist of what-ifs,
buts, how’s, and whys—
for life should be lived by the flow.
Imagine a drop of water.
For the drop is unaware of life on the other side
Until it drops.
The drop joins other drops
To ease into some body of water eventually.
A river, a pond, a lake or canal, an ocean,
A man-made contraption perhaps,
A drop will never know,
Until—
It reaches anew environs.
For the drop is seemed to have no control
But, then—? Well, What-if—?
What-if the drop joined different molecules?
What-if the drop went a distinctive way?
What-if the drop went down the clean,
Stainless steel pipe far left
Rather than making the sharp right
Into the rusty, old metal pipe.
But where could’ve the drop gone?
How could’ve its destiny have changed?
Well, the problem is caused by one thing:
Going with the flow.
When a drop goes with the flow,
It already loses control
And then there’s no say of where it may end up.
Unless the drop would have considered:
what-ifs, buts, how’s, and whys.
Maybe—just maybe,
its destiny could have been altered, or controlled.
Maybe what they say does not matter after all;
Maybe the answer is defiance.
What-if defying all you were taught—
All you ever knew to be true—
Was the key to your own well-being?
Is it selfish? How could such innovation be so?
How could one be ridiculed for a clever mindset?
For—maybe—just a question changes destiny.
